No idea if that is true or not, but regardless there definately seems to be a problem editing 4k videos in Adobe Premier Pro on the Dell XPS. A common thesis seem to be that it is due to its 4k monitor messing around. However, I have read numerous posts on different forums about Adobe Premiere Pro lagging and crashing on the Dell XPS. So I am now on the lookout for a new laptop that will let me edit my 4k videos smoothly, preferably without having to use proxies.Īfter doing some (a lot) of searching on the web, watching tutorials and reading reviews about 4k video editing laptops, two laptops seem to always come up: the MacBook Pro 15 and the Dell XPS 15.Ĭomparing the specs of those two laptops shows that the Dell XPS has better performance than the MacBook Pro, and also comes at a lower price. After purchasing my Mavic Pro Platinum, I came to the harsh realization that my current laptop is way outdated for 4k video editing. NOTE: this is not the same as routinely backing up your entire iPhoto library folder to protect your photos. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. Others have reported that it works very nicely without having to change the entire system language. This means importing calendars from other applications is either painful or impossible, and there's also no support for using alternative calendaring systems like Google Calendar. This process was a little slow when we tested with just under 1,000 contacts, but after the first sync it was reliable and fast enough.Ĭalendar support with Exchange worked flawlessly, but again Outlook is lacking in support for CalDAV. There is, however, no support for CardDAV, but you can at least synchronise your Apple Address Book contacts with Outlook. Having said that, searches are quick they feel faster than with Entourage which partially makes up for this odd interface design. Sadly, as with Entourage if you're using LDAP directory services, you can search for contacts but not browse for them. Setup and auto-discovery also work properly, and the whole process of using Exchange feels more reliable and robust.Ĭontact management is similar to Entourage, including, unfortunately, one of the bugbears that annoyed us previously. Scheduling meetings, which was always a hit-or-miss affair using Entourage, works flawlessly with Outlook. This is a shame since Exchange-related tasks that never seemed to work particularly well, if at all, using Entourage just works with Outlook. So I’m going strap it onto my Macbook Air once it arrives, ARM in ARM they’ll go. The M1 may not support yet but this little guy does. And for me, high on that list of tools is Docker.Īs of writing, Docker for Mac does not run on Apple Silicon, and so my quest for a work-around began even before I received my M1 Macbook Air, by setting up a Raspberry Pi with Docker and connecting to it over the network. If you’re anything like me, you’ve been both terribly excited to get your hands on a Mac with an M1 chip – but at the same time apprehensive if all your favourite dev tools are going to work on it. So if you type ‘b?t’ as the search string, it will find the words bat, bit, bot, etc. For example, you can use the question mark (?) wildcard to be a placeholder for a single character in your search string. One great feature of this dialog box is that it lets you use wildcards to help you find what you need. Method 1: Using Find and Replace to Remove Text after a Specific CharacterĮxcel’s Find and Replace dialog box is quite versatile as it provides a very efficient way to find items on your worksheet and get things done quickly.Īll you need to do is enter your search string to specify what you want to replace and then specify what you want to replace it with. Let us assume we have the following dataset of email addresses and we want to remove everything after the character in each cell:
To watch a movie or series, we sometimes have to use converters. Even now, even though we have very few restrictions on playing video files on smartphones, we still need to convert the format for some formats.Īside from smartphones, we still use weak players, TVs, and other players. Later, with the expansion of mp4 and even WMV mobile phones, it was added to the default playlist of the phone’s operating system. At the same time, in order to watch a clip or movie on our phone, we had to convert its format to 3GP, with the specific conditions of the destination device.
